Why YOU Should Never Forget

Hey Fam! It’s Thursday (or Friday eve as Jordyn reminds me every week lol) and I pray you all have had a lovely week… About three weeks back we talked about if we were stalling our own promises, if we were rushing the process, or if we were simply in our waiting season. What we didn’t talk about is why it’s important to hold on to our promise for dear life, so here are my three reasons as to why we should.

1. Forgetting might be synonymous with unbelief… when we remember what we were promised we have an expectation! I don’t know if you’ve ever expected anything, but I have. It’s a waiting process but it’s also an active process. Constantly checking to see where you are in the midst of the promise that you were granted access to. If I forget, it’s almost like I didn’t really believe it anyway because I’m not even looking for it!

2. It reminds you where you came from… when you are growing through your promise process there comes a moment when you reflect back on where you started. If you have been an active participant, you see growth, you feel expectation, and it only makes you hungrier for what’s next to come.

3. The Promise is a reminder that what’s coming is much better than what’s here… this mirrors number 2 in that revelation of growth. If I haven’t yet received the promise but I can see how much things have changed, why wouldn’t I push harder to see even more results (staying in line with obedience though)? That’s one of those questions we have to ask ourselves.

That being said, holding on the promise is not always easy. I was going to say not a walk in the park, but depending on the neighborhood you grew up in, it might be!

We are not only gifted with one promise. If we were, then what would become of us after the initial promise was fulfilled?
My promise was that if I followed the lighted path then I would arrive to a point where my random scribbles would become a book. I pushed and prayed and struggled through the frustration but guess what? I am now a published author (as surreal as that still is to say). I have grown tremendously, and I wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t hold on to my promise(s).

I encourage you to check out Trisha Alicia’s #NeverForgetThePromise campaign. It will encourage you to share your story and why you will never forget. Tag your pics –> #N4P and she’ll re-share (fb/twitter/instagram) & challenge your friends to share their promises. You can check out her full video on her YouTube page (YouTube.com/TrishaAlicia)

Anyway, here’s the part where I tell you all to have an awesome weekend! I love you all and I leave you with this…

2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.

Thanks again, God bless and One love.
