Rest-less

Hey Fam,

It’s Monday afternoon and I’m tired…Not tired like I need a nap, but tired like my body knows I owe it 72 hours of sleep and it’s demanding it of me all at one time! I pray you all are having a great afternoon and that you all had wonderful weekends =)

So this weekend we’re at my nephew’s soccer game and it’s pretty intense. They were down 1 goal, then tied, and then up one goal, then tied. There was a point in the game where he was resting, and my Dad in that way of his yells, “When everyone else is tired. You aren’t tired. Let’s go!” That simple statement seemed to give him more energy and he took off running down the field again.

So originally, I felt like that message was for me too. I’m one of those people who thrive off of being busy. I need to have 50 things to do in order to function properly. My problem is that… I don’t know how to stop. Until I’m forced to…The body is interesting like that. Did you know that your body keeps track of how much sleep you owe it for up to two weeks? Two weeks! I’m scared to add up the hours I owe myself!

So yesterday I found myself in that situation, my body kind of shut down reminding me that I need to slow down every once in a while or it’ll make me (bully lol). But seriously, rest is important because it helps to rejuvenates your body and mind, it plays a part in your mood, and it is linked to memory function and learning. Not getting enough rest can cause bad moods, weaken your immune system, and add to your stress level. We don’t want that or any of those other negative impacts… sooo don’t be like me!

On December 21st, I wrote a post titled “the wall” which found me in a similar circumstance. And since I know that this post is also for me to remind myself to relax sometimes, I’ll leave you with the same thing I left you with then. I love you all and I pray that your week is wonderful, I leave you with this…

Matthew 11:28-30 NLT

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Thanks again, God bless and One love.
