You were the standard.
Long before I was able to justify or rectify the possibilities of flaws in my adolescent mind. You were the rule.
The final number at the end of an age old equation of whether he’d be good enough.
Seconds away felt like endless minutes, and minutes away felt like hours of waiting, days like months of apprehension, and a month like a sad eternity away from one of my best friends.
You were not a statistic.
Breaking barriers of what’s possible and paying dues that you didn’t owe on.
I hope the enthusiasm showed.
The warmth of your embrace like finding a warm blanket in the middle of a snowstorm.
Your scent a reminder of times long forgotten.
Your voice simultaneously jumping between comfort, authority, and the moral of another lesson learned.
You were one of the best gifts I ever received…
I’m forever grateful that you were created to help create me.
It is in your failures that I find additional hope.
In your perseverance that I find extra strenth.
You are the very definition of what I call you…
I pray you all had a great week thus far! When I sat down to talk to you all, I did NOT expect that to come out… but… if nothing else, I attempt to be as transparent as possible. I really have nothing else to say sooo… I love you all and pray that you all have wonderful weekends! I leave you with this…
May our sons flourish in their youth
like well-nurtured plants.
May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.
13 May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands,
14 and may our oxen be loaded down with produce. May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares.
15 Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord.
Thanks again, God bless and One love.
