So you want to be Popular?

Hey Fam!

Here goes another Monday… I pray that everyone’s doing well.

I have to be at work soon so this will be pretty quick =). The Sunday before last I taught children’s church and the topic was peer pressure. Going in I had an idea of what we were going to discuss but I wasn’t necessarily sure of the way I was going to explain it. When you’re teaching children, you have to break things down enough to where they can understand it, otherwise what is the point? Anyway, we’re talking about Pilate and why he chose to crucify Jesus even though he knew that he had done nothing wrong. The week before, the youth did skits on situations of peer pressure and bullying so I knew they had a good idea already of what that was.

I begin talking and the youth began reading the scriptures but I could kind of see that they weren’t grasping the concept. I’ve seen my mentor draw pictures when she’s trying to get a point across so I thought, maybe I should do that! Long story short, I drew like a whole comic and once we went over the scriptures again, the youth were pretty much able to tell the story back to me. Not only that, but they were able to tell me in their own words why it was wrong. Beautiful!

I said all that to say this, Pilate had a decision to make. He knew that if he did what was right, it wouldn’t be the popular choice. We face situations and decisions every day, and sometimes when we make the conscious decision to do what’s right, it won’t be the popular thing to do. Doing the right thing isn’t popular, otherwise every one would be doing it lol. The greatest show of character is when we are faced with adversity. Stand strong in the truth and continue to do what is right. Don’t let anyone put out your flame, for we must continue to be the light. Plus, being popular on earth isn’t worth the price…

I’d rather be unpopular and live in truth, than to be popular and have my whole life be a lie… I pray you all have a wonderful day, I love you all and I leave you with this…

Matthew 16:26 NLT

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

Thanks again, God bless and One love.
