Things that make you go… Whaaaaaaaaaat?!?

Hey Fam,

As always I pray that your week has been going great! I am particularly grateful for today because I was granted the entrance to another year. Another chance to get it right. And although I don’t care too much for other people entertaining today, deep down inside I’m smiling. Seriously lol deep down inside (straight face)

Sooo a few days ago I’m in the car with my (dare I say friend lol) friend’s child. And we’re listening to this song. As you know these days, many songs have dances that go along with them. So I say, “I wish I could play this at (my job name) so I can teach you all the dance, it’s pretty cool.” She says, “why can’t you play it there, it doesn’t have bad words or anything inappropriate.” I respond by saying,  “well he says Jesus and God a few times and we can’t play stuff like that there.” To which she responded by saying, “well then why can’t you just bleep it out?” Whaaaaaaaaaat?!? lol
So I said, “uhhh well, I would never bleep out God’s name like it’s a bad word.” And her being the awesome young lady she is says, “Oh. That’s true too.”  (I absolutely adore her =))
Sometimes it takes the simplest conversations to realize how messed up stuff is… which is why I enjoy conversing with children. Most of the time their view of the world isn’t tainted like adults. They haven’t lived long enough to wear that cloak of cynicism that often times cover individuals.
In her eyes she saw nothing wrong, in the “world’s eyes,” we don’t want to offend anyone by speaking God’s name in a “professional setting”… okay(sarcastic like). See. Perspective.
And I’m totally rambling here but I’ve always been that person who tries to identify. We might not share the same views but because I am secure in what I believe, I have no problem with trying to understand why someone else might feel differently. I think the world is missing a little bit of that. That lack of understanding breeds miscommunication and eventually ignorance to the culture of others. Which in turn breeds indifference and dare I say… hate. All because we never attempted to understand. To be open-minded.
Yeah… sooo… I didn’t plan on getting all “deep” lol this was supposed to be quick and story time like and other than the obvious issue (God being seen as an inappropriate word), positively upbeat haha.
Thank you for making it through my ramblings lol. And though I am one year older today,  I choose to not see it as getting older, but just a tad wiser. I love you all and I leave you with this…

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT

16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Thanks again, God bless and One love.
