Fascination vs Destination

fasc v dest

Hey fam!

How many of you had a great weekend? (Raises hand) I really hope that you all did!

I was talking to my youngest sister this weekend (not Rae for my Clarksville people lol she’s not the youngest) and we were talking about where we are in life. She was expressing how she felt like she should be further in life than she is now. My response to that was, “says who?” Who told you that you should be at point C in life and you’re only at point B? I KNOW she was comparing where she is currently in life to people she sees around her. Here’s the thing though… comparing where you are to where someone else is only leads to heartbreak because what is for them is not for you! It literally broke my heart that she felt any sort of inadequacy. Because I’ve been there… before I changed my thinking and then changed my confession…
So if you’ve read my bio then you know I have a degree in Criminal Justice. Do I use my degree? Uhhh not really, but when I decided to go to college I was fascinated with criminal justice. The theories, the practice, and the policy. In order to pursue the goals of my degree while working two jobs I had to give up something… writing/rapping/Music in general I pretty much gave up (other than inconsistent random occurrences). But here’s the funny thing about God, he led me right back to what I gave up in order to follow what the “world” said about getting a degree, working a job and pulling yourself up by the bootstraps.  Whatever. And please know that I am NOT knocking education in ANY way. I’m a firm believer in education, just not in the way American society as a whole set it up for individuals to learn. Anyway, back on topic lol…
My destination was always writing, poetry, and speaking to people… meeting them where they are, but I took a detour to follow what fascinated me. God went ahead and rerouted me right back to where he wanted me, and I can honestly say that I am so much happier! I say all that to say this… don’t let your fascination detour you from your destination… but I guess ultimately you’ll end up there anyway. I love you all and I leave you with this…

Proverbs 19:20-21 NLT

20 Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.
21 You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Thanks again, God bless and One love.
