Hey Fam!

I hope your week is going great thus far and if not… I’m always praying for you all!
I’m going to jump right in today…
I come across a lot of individuals who live a certain way or dress a certain way because it is what is expected of them. Then we’re back to those subliminal expectations placed on us by someone we’ve probably never met.
We’re in a time right now where image is placed on a pedestal of importance and other people’s idea of what’s in or not is force-fed to us. I’m not talking about you liking something or someone else’s lifestyle and using some of their “swagger” (for lack of a better term) to incorporate into your own. I’m talking about when you begin to adapt who you are to fit into a space that wasn’t created for you.
If you’re thinking about dropping a few pounds, changing your hair, or changing the type of clothes you wear, that’s great! But it’s important that we hold on to who we are at our cores and not allow others to taint our self-image!
Since I always self evaluate first (lol) I’m happy with who I am! I walk around with a beanie on in 90 degree weather because it’s what I want. People look at me crazy all the time but I have no desire to change who I am to be accepted. I refuse! I wear long shorts and get questioned about my sexuality but none of that bothers me more than the thought of me not being true to myself and feeling great in the skin I’m in.
It’s really easy to get sucked into someone else’s vision of who you are but I challenge you today to take a good look at yourself. Are you allowing others to transform your mental picture? Are you comparing yourself to someone else based on what they have? And last, if you are… do you think achieving that will make you feel better about who you are?
Great self-image leads to high self-esteem, which leads to confidence in yourself. We can all use a little of that! I’ve said this before but 1 Peter 3:3-4 says Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God… You were born to be beautiful! Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from feeling that way about yourself…
I think it’s that time sooo I leave you with this…

Galatians 6:4 (NLT)
4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.

Thanks again, God bless and One love.

P.S. Soon I’ll be adding a Media/Picture page, an actual Vlog series (in the next few months or so), and an events page so you all can keep up of where I’ll be next! BTW I’m on Periscope now so if you want to find me it’s @komplex_simplicity. Okay. Thanks. Bye lol

  1. Thanks you for your wonderful words and scripture, on my job people come in all the time asking what do I think will look good for their hair I give them my opinion but at the same time I make sure I ask them what do they like because my opinion does mean something but what really matters is how they feel.
