What is the UNPOPULAR Movement?
The UNPOPULAR Movement was founded in 2016 by visionary creator Komplex Simplicity, rooted in the truth of Matthew 16:26. What began as a single scripture became a declaration—an intentional refusal to live according to the patterns of the world.
The word UNPOPULAR first appeared on apparel as a bold testimony: a choice to stand apart, to live surrendered, and to walk faithfully. Soon after, Chapter 1 was released—a collection of T-shirts and hoodies inspired by a simple but powerful truth: life becomes clearer when we let go and let God.
Being UNPOPULAR is a lifestyle. It is choosing righteousness over recognition, purpose over popularity, and faith over fear. It is knowing who you are, walking confidently in who God created you to be, and committing to the path set before you—even when it’s not the easy one.
The UNPOPULAR Movement calls you to speak responsibly, dream courageously, and pursue what others say is impossible—without losing yourself along the way. It is about being a light, encouraging one another, exercising self-control, and moving forward in confidence and faith.
We honor the balance between Kingdom and culture, understanding that culture must be anchored in truth. While our designs may reflect an urban aesthetic, they remain firmly rooted in scripture—always pointing back to God.
This is more than a brand.
It’s a declaration.
Stand boldly. Walk faithfully. Live UNPOPULAR.
Why I choose to label myself UNPOPULAR?
When I made the decision to follow Christ, people told me I had changed—that I was different—as if that difference were something negative. Over time, I learned to embrace who I am and to stand confidently in the calling God placed on my life. I refuse to let the world’s definition of “popular” shape or silence who I was created to be.
The UNPOPULAR Movement isn’t for adults or for kids—it’s for everyone. I didn’t set out to start a movement. I simply chose to label myself so others wouldn’t try to label me first.
If I had to sum it up in one sentence, it would be this:
I’d rather be popular with God than popular with the world—and if that makes me UNPOPULAR, then so be it.
