Komplex Simplicity

Hey Fam,

As always I pray that you all had a great weekend!
As you all know, I went to a conference this weekend, then a BNS event, and then UPCLOSE & Poetry live! So it has really been busy, busy, busy!

I write to you all a completely different person than the one who wrote to you Thursday. I have been exposed to so many wonderful people and a wealth of knowledge that I didn’t fully understand last week. I can’t tell you about everything because it’s waaaay too much to type, but I’ll tell you about what stuck with me most.

1. No one can do me like me
We are nothing more than a compilation of the individuals who inspire us, and the situations we’ve been through… We’ve grown through. And because no one has been through the exact same trials they cannot do me better than me!

2. I am my brand
Branding KS was at first REALLY important to me, but I think it was borderline for the wrong reason in the beginning. After taking a careful look at things I know FOR SURE that the clothes I offer are nothing more than a reminder of a message that is deeply important to me.

3. Poetry is dope!
If you missed UPCLOSE & Poetry… you really missed it! Poetry is so expressive. So emotional. So intriguing. So thought provoking. I admire those who inspire and rejoice in the name of God at the same time.

4. I really don’t care about my social media numbers
Social media and “instafame” means nothing in the grand scheme of who I am able to reach with my gift. Popularity is fleeting, the plans I believe that God has for my life are not!

5. My library needs to be updated
I definitely need to put away some of the things I read for entertainment and invest my reading time in something that will expand my growth. Multiply my talents so to speak. Multiply my ability to handle my talents.

6. I need to be more confident in my work.
Speaking is… exciting and scary… and vulnerable, but it’s my truth. I should (and you should) never be scared to share my (your) truth!

7. Did I already say poetry is dope!?!
It’s my outlet! Although I do need to take more time and refine my work. I need to stop being lazy and take the time to edit and assess, then present.

I’m sure that after I press enter I’ll think of 5 more reasons (lol) but these are a few of the things that made me examine myself!
